obstacles, ordeals and failure in
his life and career. He has helped
bury three newspapers including the
much-loved Philadelphia Bulletin,
the paper almost everybody in
Philadelphia read.
He has been hired, fired and yelled
at.
As a journalist, he has reported in
dangerous places covering fires,
floods, hurricanes and race riots,
as well as the White House, State
Department, Pentagon, United
Nations, Israel, Gaza, Lebanon, the
Sinai desert and the West Bank. He
has interviewed heads of state and
been the guest of Presidents Carter
and Reagan at the White House.
For 25 years, he and his wife have
started, owned and operated more
than a half dozen successful
business ventures. They have had a
few failures along the way, too, and
learned from each of them. As
owners, they have successfully
published three community
newspapers, two magazines and
special publications.
Jerry and his colleagues have been
honored with more than 200 national
and state awards at their newspaper
in South Carolina.
