Finding the Leadership Zone

How you and your team can enhance your performance

Some days you can't seem to do anything wrong. A higher power has stepped in to make everything possible.

Sports psychologists call it "the zone".

It's a mental—and some say spiritual—condition that goes beyond talent.

It's one of those moments we've all seen when an athlete takes over a game. With the last seconds ticking down, the center blocks shots and scores baskets. The tennis pro comes from behind with three aces to take the final set.

In theater, the actor steps onto the stage and becomes the character.

In sales, every customer and prospect wants to buy whatever you have to offer.

The writer sits down at the keyboard and the words flow magically on their own.

In leadership training, everyone is relaxed, having fun, learning and growing. There is a special feeling of family and togetherness in the room.

It is electric, energizing and refreshing. The speaker is connecting and the audience is responding. All of them have found "the zone".

That's what happens in one of Jerry Bellune's FUNshops. My clients say that I connect with people and that they connect with me..... Jerry

USC-PSTA
First Annual Leadership Conference

The USC student chapter of Palmetto State Teachers Association held their first annual Leadership Conference at the Columbia Chamber of Commerce. This conference was held for education students at the University of South Carolina wanting to learn about how to be a leader in their classrooms and schools.

Jerry Bellune was the keynote speaker. He spoke to the women of USCPSTA about finding your goals and passions, working out problems effectively, and developing strong leadership qualities. He also had the members work on scenarios of situations that would likely come up in their years of teaching.

Mayor of Lexington, Randy Halfacre, also spoke at the conference. He spoke about his development as a leader and how he overcame many obstacles to become an effective leader. Both speakers spoke about what leadership meant to them and gave wonderful tips to the attendees of the Leadership Conference.

I hope to continue this Leadership Conference in the years to come and I hope it becomes bigger and better every time. We are so fortunate to have such a strong membership with members who are always looking for ways to develop themselves professionally. The members of USCPSTA are working hard to build strong leadership and become the next generation of education leaders.

Hope Halfacre
President
