Jerry is the founder of the Lexington Business Association and founding president of the Lexington and West Metro Business Development Clubs, He is past-president of the SC Press Association and a past-president of the Breakfast Club. He is an active Rotarian, a professional motivational speaker and member of Toastmasters International and the National Speakers Association.

Jerry has taught journalism at Seton Hall University and been invited to share his ideas and experience as a visiting expert at Temple University. He has taught post graduate writing, marketing and business courses at Midlands Technical College. He is a frequent guest speaker at press association and newspaper industry conferences and at the University of South Carolina.
